Steven Sykes

Steven Sykes works as the Senior Project Manager at Regal Beloit Corporation and has been a long-standing volunteer for various United Way’s since 1994. Steven has been with United Way of Allen County for 15 years now and serves as the Team Leader for the Early Childhood Investment Team.

United Way of Allen County has four impact focus areas: Childhood Success, Youth Success, Adult Success, and Safety Net Services. Any organization applying for funding must have a program that falls into one of the impact areas and benefits individuals and families who are working hard but struggling to survive – the teams that determine funding are completely volunteer based. Volunteering is important to Steven because of the diverse individuals that come together and share the same commitment to improve the community through collaborative initiatives. Steven explains that United Way is important for the future of Allen County because this organization identifies unique challenges in the community and determines the best approaches in achieving outcomes that directly will address these challenges.

It is important for individuals to understand that when you volunteer for United Way you can truly see the impact first hand. The power that United Way of Allen County uses to leverage resources through collaborative initiatives truly creates change in this community, however this cannot be done without dedicated volunteers like Steven.

Fund Distribution and Investment Teams have been a large part of Steven’s volunteer career with United Way for over 20 years now, but he has filled many other roles over the years. Steven came alongside Workplace campaigns where he was an Ambassador and has spent many hours volunteering through the annual Day of Caring over the last decade and a half.

Thank you, Steven, for offering a hand-up to those in our community that need it. As you continue to Live United, barriers begin to break down for those individuals that are working hard but struggling to survive. We appreciate you, volunteers, for the work you do in our community.
