35th Annual Day of Caring

For 35 years, Day of Caring has brought our community together in service. The 2026 Day of Caring continued that tradition, bringing together more than 1,300 volunteers who completed more than 60 projects across Allen County.

The 35th annual event also welcomed new organizations participating as both volunteer teams and project hosts. Several large projects brought together multiple organizations and teams, demonstrating the power of collaboration and the greater impact we can make when we join forces.

Day of Caring is about more than completing projects. It is an opportunity for organizations, businesses, volunteers and community partners to come together, serve our community and strengthen the connections that make Allen County a better place to live and work.

We are grateful to all of the volunteers, project hosts and partners who made the 2026 Day of Caring possible. We extend a special thank-you to our generous event sponsors:

Indiana Michigan Power Foundation, City of Fort Wayne, AID of Indiana, Mentor Community Living, Purdue Fort Wayne, AnCor HR, Aqua Indiana, Avery Dennison, Brightpoint, Indiana Agriculture & Technology School – Fort Wayne, PHP, Regal Rexnord, and UAW Local 2209 – GM Fort Wayne Assembly.

2025 Day of Caring

United Way's Day of Caring is our annual opportunity to mobilize thousands of volunteers to work on community service projects supporting local organizations and our neighbors. 2025 Community Food Drive

United Way of Allen County held a Community Food Drive from February 17 through March 4, 2025 with the support of 27 local companies and public sites at all Fort Wayne Salsa Grille locations. Collection Day was held on Wednesday, March 5th with the help of volunteer drivers to pick up full donation bins and volunteer sorters at each of the benefiting food pantries. Associated Churches, Community Harvest Food Bank, and Miss Virginia's Food Pantry each received donations to help restock their shelves.
Our Allen County community showed up to provide 9,745 pounds of food to help our neighbors in need! Thank you!

Pizza for a Purpose

United Way and Papa John’s have formed a new partnership this year to provide pizza for a purpose to address food insecurity. 2025 Kindergarten Countdown Backpack and School Supply Contributors

The Kindergarten Countdown program was developed to help families better navigate and prepare for the crucial transition into kindergarten while helping students be better prepared for school. The program offers four weeks of high-quality instruction using a very hands-on, exploratory approach to learning. The 2025 program is coming to a close and each student received a backpack filled with school supplies.

Thank you to Aqua Indiana, BFGoodrich, Erie Insurance, Franklin Electric, Hallmark Home Mortgage, Hylant, Momper Insulation, PHP, Regal Rexnord, Rothberg Law Firm, Sauder, and STAR Financial Bank for supporting our backpack and school supply needs!
