Day of Caring

In 1992, about 250 volunteers gathered to help spruce up what was then the YWCA campus on North Wells Street. That event has now grown into an opportunity for thousands of volunteers to come together to make Allen County a better place to live and work.

In 2023, United Way of Allen County will be bringing back the Kickoff Breakfast! The day will start at Parkview Field with our annual campaign and volunteer awards ceremony and celebration.

In 2022, we celebrated our 30th anniversary of Day of Caring. More than 1,200 volunteers participated in 57 community service projects in Allen County. Day of Caring projects included various tasks such as cleaning, landscaping, painting, supply drives, and general maintenance. The completed work was done at non-profit agencies, schools, private residences recommended by NeighborLink, trails, and other community areas in need.

Times and locations of volunteer projects are dependent on project selected and team’s preferences. MORE DETAILS FORTHCOMING.

TEAM AND PROJECT APPLICATIONS CLOSE JUNE 30.

“Most of our team had never participated in Day of Caring, so they weren't sure what to expect. Several of them came up to me at the end of the day and told me what a great day it was for them. This is after working all day pulling weeds and hauling mulch. Several of them were excited to learn about landscaping techniques and how to use tools.”
