At 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jessica Ogle was putting the finishing touches on the first coat of red paint on a side door at Vincent House, a transitional shelter for homeless families on Fort Wayne’s southeast side.
It was a far cry from what the specialist in taxes and business evaluations does daily in her job at DWD CPAs & Advisors, a Fort Wayne accounting firm.
But Ogle saw the work worthwhile as she and about 20 colleagues participated in United Way of Allen County’s annual Day of Caring.
Agency leaders told volunteers “they didn’t have a lot of staff people,” Ogle said. “They are having those of us who came today do things so they can do what they do more with the staff they have. We can get a lot more done in one day than they can.”Read Full Story
