Aug 19, 2024
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (August 16, 2024) – United Way of Allen County’s Annual Day of Caring will begin with a breakfast and community awards celebration on Friday, August 23rd. Join us at the Do it Best Don Wolf Conference Center at 7:30 a.m., with the awards presentation beginning at 8:15 a.m. We will be presenting our 2023 Campaign Awards to the following organizations and individuals: Indiana Michigan Power (IBEW Local 1392), BFGoodrich (USW Local 715), Franklin Electric, Summit Brands, Evan Schoof, and Tyna (Tee-nuh) Reiter, to showcase their efforts that prove they go above and beyond for our community. This year’s Day of Caring will mobilize over 1,200 volunteers to participate in 71 community service projects throughout Allen County.
“Day of Caring is our largest volunteer event,” said Brandi Buck, Executive Director of United Way of Allen County. “On this day, United Way has the opportunity to mobilize thousands of volunteers to work on community service projects supporting local organizations and our neighbors. We hope every volunteer will walk away knowing they had an impact in helping us live out our mission to boldly address critical community issues.”
Day of Caring projects include various tasks such as cleaning, landscaping, painting, supply drives, and general maintenance. Projects take anywhere from four to eight hours to complete, and volunteer teams range in size from three to 100 people. The work being done takes place within Allen County at nonprofit agencies, organizations, schools, or private residences recommended by NeighborLink.
United Way of Allen County is incredibly grateful to our sponsors for this year’s Day of Caring: City of Fort Wayne, AEP Foundation, AID of Indiana, AnCor HR, Aqua, DWD CPAs & Advisors, Martin Riley Architects-Engineers, Regal Rexnord, UAW Local 2209, and Strebig Construction Inc.
