FORT WAYNE, IND. (August 22, 2025) – United Way of Allen County’s Annual Day of Caring will kick off with breakfast and community awards on Friday, August 22. Participants are invited to Parkview Field at 7:30 a.m. for breakfast, with awards beginning at 8:15 a.m.
United Way will present the 2024 Campaign Awards to the following organizations and individuals: Javon Bell, Nick Darrah, Gina Rhoad, Asher Agency, Regal Rexnord, 3Rivers Federal Credit Union, Salsa Grille, and Franklin Electric to recognize their exceptional efforts in serving the community. This year’s Day of Caring will mobilize over 1,400 volunteers to participate in more than 60 community service projects throughout Allen County.
“Day of Caring is our largest volunteer event,” said Brandi Buck, Executive Director of United Way of Allen County. “On this day, United Way has the opportunity to rally thousands of volunteers to work on community service projects supporting local nonprofits, schools, and our neighbors. We hope every volunteer will walk away knowing they had an impact in helping us live out our mission to boldly impact critical community issues.”
Day of Caring projects include various tasks such as cleaning, landscaping, painting, supply drives, and general maintenance. Projects take anywhere from four to eight hours to complete, and volunteer teams range in size from four to 80 people. The volunteer work takes place within Allen County at nonprofit agencies, organizations, schools, or private residences recommended by NeighborLink.
United Way of Allen County is incredibly grateful to our sponsors for this year’s Day of Caring: Indiana Michigan Power Foundation, City of Fort Wayne, AID of Indiana, L3Harris, AnCor HR, Aqua Indiana, Avery Dennison, Regal Rexnord, UAW Local 2209 – GM Fort Wayne Assembly, and USW Local 715.
