We are proud to announce our 2024/2025 award recipients!
SPIRIT OF GIVING
Franklin Electric
United Way of Allen County’s highest award is the Spirit of Giving Award, which recognizes a company that exemplifies what it means to showcase UNITED IS THE WAY. This company consistently gives back to the community it serves and fosters an environment of philanthropy within its organization.
Franklin Electric exemplifies the belief that United is the Way by making community impact a cornerstone of its culture. Through a year-round partnership with United Way, Franklin Electric goes beyond traditional giving—mobilizing employees through a dynamic workplace campaign, providing backpacks for the Kindergarten Countdown program, Day of Caring, and numerous other initiatives to strengthen local families and neighborhoods. A dedicated United Way committee within the organization leads the charge, creating innovative ways for employees to connect with causes that matter and to drive meaningful, lasting change within the community.
OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER
Javon Bell
This award honors an individual whose contributions go far beyond time — someone who shares their expertise, influence, and passion to strengthen our mission.
Javon Bell, embodies what it means to be a true community champion. Whether he’s connecting us to new partnerships, lending his professional insight, or simply showing up with unwavering positivity, Javon turns vision into action.
His belief in the power of community is contagious, and his impact is undeniable.
OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD
Nick Darrah
This individual is being recognized for his exceptional commitment to policy and advocacy that drives real change in our community. He serves not only as Chair of our local Advocacy Committee but also contributes at the state level through the Indiana United Ways Public Policy Committee.
A dedicated member of both our Board of Directors and Executive Committee, Nick is a true connector—bringing people, ideas, and resources together to break down barriers and expand access to opportunity. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing key initiatives like Persistence Pays Off and our housing stability efforts, always with a focus on workforce development and regional competitiveness.
OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEE CAMPAIGN COORDINATOR
Gina Rhoad
United Way of Allen County’s Outstanding Employee Campaign Coordinator award recognizes an individual who exemplifies leadership, enthusiasm, and commitment in leading their organization’s United Way workplace campaign, consistently promoting community giving and inspiring others to make a difference.
As the Human Resources Business Partner at Summit Brands in Fort Wayne, Gina Rhoad plays a vital role in the success of the company’s United Way workplace campaign. Under her leadership, Summit Brands has achieved 100% employee participation for two consecutive years, with increased contributions each year.
In addition to her campaign efforts, Gina has also coordinated valuable summer office support by placing a Summit Brands intern at United Way, further strengthening the partnership and impact in the community.
OUTSTANDING SMALL ORGANIZATION - WORKPLACE CAMPAIGN
Asher Agency
This award recognizes a company with less than 100 employees that runs an outstanding workplace campaign.
From 2023 to 2024, Asher Agency more than doubled its United Way workplace campaign contributions, reflecting a deep commitment to community impact. As part of their campaign, the team assembled cold weather kits for St. Joseph’s Missions Women’s Shelter.
Their dedication extends beyond fundraising through active volunteerism, including participation in Day of Caring and ongoing service on United Way boards and committees.
OUTSTANDING MEDIUM ORGANIZATION - WORKPLACE CAMPAIGN
Regal Rexnord
This award recognizes a company with 101-300 employees that runs an outstanding workplace campaign.
This organization is a year-round supporter of United Way, actively engaging in a strong workplace campaign and contributing to key initiatives such as our annual food drive and kindergarten Countdown program. This organization also demonstrates its commitment through sponsorships
OUTSTANDING LARGE ORGANIZATION - WORKPLACE CAMPAIGN
3Rivers FCU
This award recognizes a company with more than 300 employees that runs an outstanding workplace campaign.
In 2024, 3Rivers surpassed their previous year’s United Way workplace campaign by over $10,000, significantly expanding its impact. Beyond Allen County, 3Rivers extended its support across Indiana by contributing to United Way efforts in 19 additional counties.
Their commitment to community service is further demonstrated by a strong volunteer presence during Day of Caring and ongoing service on United Way boards and committees
