United Way of Allen County 2017 Public Policy Advocacy Agenda
As the need for assistance increases in our community, so does the need for public policy change. In addition to our own work and the work of our 37 funded partner agencies, United Way of Allen County (UWAC) advocates for policies that reinforce our four priorities of basic needs, education, financial stability and health. We believe this work creates opportunities and strengthens the community.
United Way advocates for the continued improvement and expansion of state investment in high-quality pre-K, allowing more children in more counties to benefit from access to this necessary program. We view Pre-K as part of a comprehensive approach to preparing children from birth to 5 for success in school and life.
UWAC is dedicated to being good stewards of the time, resources and staff available for public policy work. To achieve the results needed, UWAC will advocate for efforts towards improving education during 2017. For additional policy work, we maintain a strong stance of support for the work already being done by other community-minded leaders and organizations.
