United Way of Allen County 2018 Advocacy Platform

At the heart of United Way of Allen County's public policy efforts is a desire to support families who are striving for financial stability, self-sufficiency, and bright futures for their children. The advocacy platform is designed to support that goal through evidence-based policy decisions and investments in proven practices that have a high rate of return to the community in which we all live.

United Way advocates for the preserving and expanding working family tax credits (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit (CTC). The EITC is one of the most effective anti-poverty, pro-work, pro-family tax policies today. It helps working adults become self-sufficient and provide for their families. The CTC helps working families offset the cost of raising children.

United Way is dedicated to being good stewards of the time, resources and staff available for public policy work. To achieve the results needed, United Way of Allen County will advocate for efforts toward improving financial stability, education, and healthcare during 2018. For additional policy work, we maintain a strong stance of support for the work already being done by other community-minded leaders and organizations.
