Funded Partner Feature | A Mother’s Hope

A Mother’s Hope is devoted to being a refuge for homeless, pregnant mothers, strengthening futures for moms and babies – as well as being one of the 31 United Way of Allen County Funded Partners for the 2019 – 2022 funding cycle. At A Mother’s Hope, many of these women has been abused, lied to, beaten down in life, and left alone during the most vulnerable times in their lives.  As the only maternity home in Allen County, A Mother’s Hope houses approximately twenty-two women and their babies a year. Many residents have suffered with mental illness, past drug or alcohol abuse, past abuse/neglect/trauma, and domestic violence. It is imperative that the residents have access to adequate programming and resources to support them as mothers to their children, breaking the cycle of homelessness and trauma for their family.

“There is no amount of programming and resources we can give them that will make a change if we don’t help them first find their hope” stated Stasia Roth, Executive Director and Founder of A Mother’s Hope. The organization’s programs are designed to provide opportunities for the residents to create safe, stable, and nurturing environments for themselves and their children as they move towards self-sufficiency.

As always, this mission cannot be met without the help of the community. Currently A Mother’s Hope has top volunteer needs in maintaining their property and house, as well as organization of various projects for residents and the home. With 22 women and their babies living in the home per year as well, donated items are always a need, currently they need: paper products (toilet paper and paper towels) and toiletries. Another important way to get involved is to host your own mini-fundraiser where the funds raised go to A Mother’s Hope, a few examples of previous mini-fundraisers are: a collection drive for needed items, monetary donations, and “Jeans Day” where each employee pays $5.00 to wear jeans to work that day. These are all simple, easy to do, and impactful ways to help the mothers and babies they serve.

With the financial support of United Way for the 2019 – 2022 funding cycle, A Mother’s Hope can increase adult success in our community. When you become a Funded Partner of United Way, you are joining a tightknit group of many individuals that have your back. From the staff of United Way to the other funded partners, you begin forming relationships to make positive change in this community. United Way of Allen County hosts meetings that include staff from each Funded Partner and provide opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of the resources offered in this community. As you are breaking down barriers for those in need, supporting one another is essential in the growth and impact United Way funded partners have in Allen County.

Thank you to A Mother’s Hope for fighting for those individuals and families that are working hard but struggling to survive – your programs are essential to the success of Allen County. Together, United, we can help adults succeed and become self-sufficient for their future.
