Day of Caring

2010 Day of Caring is on Thursday, August 12!

Day of Caring began in 1993 as a general sprucing up of the YWCA campus by 250 volunteers; it has since evolved into a massive effort that brings community volunteers face-to-face with local nonprofit and community organizations.

In 2009, hundreds of volunteers rolled up their sleeves for the 17th annual United Way Day of Caring. Fifty-five teams from about 45 local businesses, agencies and organized labor tackled local service projects throughout the Fort Wayne area. NIPSCO was the 2009 Day of Caring Signature Sponsor.

Day of Caring will take place on Thursday, August 12, 2010 with kick-off breakfast at the Headwaters West Lincoln Pavilion. This year, United Way again will be focusing Day of Caring efforts on neighborhood revitalization. Projects can include cleaning, painting, landscaping
or interactive activities at non-profit agencies, child care centers, after-school youth programs and schools. Private residential projects will be referred to United Way by NeighborLink Fort Wayne. If you know of a residence project appropriate for Day of Caring, please contact e-mail NeighborLink at admin@nlfw.org or call them at 260.710.7611

If you represent an agency or social service organization, you can download the project proposal form by clicking here. The form was created in Adobe Acrobat, and will allow you to fill it out and save it on your computer. Please attach it and send it to Robinh@uwacin.org.

Don't just wear the shirt, live it.

And, this year, live it in black or white.

Your team can choose which shirt you'd like to wear — the iconic white shirt with black lettering, or the new, snazzy, black with white.
