United Way of Allen County and Organized Labor have scheduled the 18th Annual Senior Health Fair for Friday, October 1, 2010, from 8 a.m. until noon at Turnstone Center for Children and Adults with Disabilities, 3320 N. Clinton St. The health fair is sponsored by Parkview Home Health & Hospice and everyone, regardless of age, is invited to attend.
Free blood pressure, glucose and colorectal cancer screenings will be available. A blood chemistry test is also available for a $17 fee; this tests liver function, kidney function, cholesterol levels, high density lipoproteins (HDLs), low density lipoproteins (LDLs), triglycerides and more.
Also during the event, Parkview Home Health & Hospice will give flu shots for $21 and Pneumonia vaccines for $35. Anyone covered by Medicare Part B will not need to pay for these shots.
For the second year, Francine's Mobile Mammography will be on site from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to provide mammograms. To schedule an appointment, women should call 260-483-1847. Some walk-ins will be taken, depending on the schedule that day.
Many health care organizations, such as Aging & In-Home Services, the Arthritis Foundation, Alzheimer’s Foundation and more, will be on hand with information and will have health care professionals available to answer questions.
