FORT WAYNE (July 30, 2008) – Regal Beloit has captured the highest honor for United Way of Allen County campaign partners. Regal Beloit employees were recently presented with the Spirit of Giving award, originally created by longtime United Way donor Will Clark. In addition to having 14 leadership givers, their company participated in United Way’s Day of Caring and was involved in many other community activities. Regal Beloit used all the best practices for running a campaign, and this paid off with a 46% increase in employee participation over the past three years.
“Regal Beloit is exemplary in their service to United Way and to the entire community,” said Jerry Peterson, president and CEO of United Way of Allen County. “They set a wonderful example of how to run an effective and fun campaign.”
United Way of Allen County is also recognizing the following companies for winning an Outstanding Workplace Campaign award: City of Fort Wayne/Allen County Government, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Fort Wayne Metals, GE and Neighborhood Health Clinics. Companies that are receiving honorable mention for this category: BF Goodrich/USW Local 715, Custom Video Communications (CVC), Do it Best Corp., Grabill Bank, Indiana Michigan Power, National City Bank, OmniSource and Park Center.
In addition, United Way of Allen County would like to congratulate the following companies and their campaign coordinator for winning an Outstanding Coordinator/Committee award: Allen County Public Library, Kathryn Witwer; Do it Best Corp., Randy Rusk; Erie Insurance, Darcy Barella; and Tower Bank, Gary Shearer. Companies that are receiving honorable mention for this category: Fort Wayne Metals, Kelly Bruno and Committee; GE, Bruce Fey and Committee; Grabill Bank, Brent Clifton; IPFW, Candi Layman; IPFW, Harold Broberg; Lincoln Financial, Myra Shelby-Scott; Merrill Lynch, Lisa White; and Old National Insurance Group, Campaign Committee.
The final award is the Most Improved award. United Way recognizes the following companies that received this honor: Old National Insurance Group, Park Center and Tri-State Maintenance. Honorable mention recipients include: Fort Wayne Airport Authority, Kohl’s and Tower Bank.
Through United Way’s role of encouraging a common vision, the organization helps bring the community together to find effective solutions to vital issues. Through fundraising, United Way supports a broad range of services that includes more than 70 programs and other initiatives to improve lives and provide lasting change. United Way priorities are services that improve success in school, promote family stability and meet basic needs.
