FORT WAYNE (Oct. 10, 2007) – Ten people from a variety of backgrounds and ethnic groups will graduate from Project Blueprint at 8:30 a.m. October 17 at The League for the Blind & Disabled, 5821 S. Anthony Blvd..
Project Blueprint, a United Way of Allen County initiative, recruits and trains diverse groups of people to serve on non-profit boards, committees and other decision-making bodies in the community. Since Project Blueprint’s start in 1995, more than 150 people have graduated from the six-week course.
Graduates this year are: Marilyn Schaab, Patricia Schrimper, Babra Chakanyuka, Carol Relitz, Stephanie Gonzales, Sandra Maddox, Christina Goings, Katamba Morrow, Karen Jackson and Connie Brown.
The graduates will intern for a year on the boards of these organizations: Aids Task Force, Fort Wayne Women’s Bureau, Fort Wayne Urban League, Family & Children’s Services, Hope House, Neighborhood Health Clinics and others.
“We have an outstanding group of graduates this year,” said Tamyra Kelly, United Way’s director of diversity and inclusion. “They will each bring important perspectives and experience to the organizations they will serve.”
Applications for the next class will be accepted in July 2008.
United Way of Allen County works to build a stronger community by addressing the needs of people in the most effective manner possible and providing lasting change. Through the generosity and shared concern of the community, United Way secures resources to help support more than 70 services across Allen County. United Way priorities are services that improve success in school, promote family stability and meet basic needs while integrating diversity and inclusion efforts.
